Victor stepped between them.

“This conversation is over.

Security will escort her out.”

“No,” Ethan said.

It was a quiet word, but Victor stopped.

Ethan stood.

“No one touches Emma or the children.”

“You are standing in the middle of your wedding.”

“I know exactly where I’m standing.”

The bride walked toward him.

The white roses in her bouquet shook slightly.

“Did you know anything about these children?” she asked.

“No.”

“Did you know your father paid Emma?”

“He told me she demanded money.

I believed him.”

Her eyes closed briefly.

When she opened them, she looked at Victor rather than Ethan.

“Who sent the invitation?” she asked.

The question struck me with unexpected force.

I took the ivory envelope from the folder and placed it beside the check.

“Victor did.”

Ethan looked at his father again.

“Why?”

Victor’s composure finally cracked.

“I wanted her to understand that your life had continued,” he said.

“I thought seeing the wedding would close the matter permanently.”

“You invited her here to humiliate her?”

“I expected her to have enough sense not to attend.”

The bride removed the ring from her finger.

Victor stared at her.

“Do not be theatrical.”

“This is not theater,” she said.

“This is a family learning that its entire history was built on a lie.”

She placed the ring on the table beside the check.

Ethan stepped toward her.

“I’m sorry.”

“I believe you,” she replied.

“But I cannot marry you today while four children are standing here wondering who you are.

You need to answer that before you promise yourself to anyone.”

She handed her bouquet to a stunned guest and walked out of the ballroom.

Victor watched the future he had arranged leave through the same doors I had entered.

Then he turned his fury toward me.

“You have destroyed my son’s life.”

I did not move.

“No, Victor.

I brought him the part you stole.”

He threatened attorneys, injunctions, private investigators, and lawsuits.

Each threat made the guests more uncomfortable and Ethan more certain.

Finally, Ethan removed his father’s hand from his arm.

“You will not threaten the mother of my children again.”

“You do not even know that they are yours.”

“Then we will confirm it properly.

Not because I doubt Emma, but because the children deserve a truth no one can rewrite.”

I agreed.

The wedding ended without vows, music, or photographs.
