Sarah smiled, but her eyes filled.
Ethan noticed immediately.
He moved closer and rested his head against her shoulder.
“Mom?”
“I’m okay.”
He knocked twice against the tabletop.
Sarah answered with three.
The people who betrayed them had tried to turn Sarah into a disappearance and Ethan into a child no one believed.
