Thomas stepped between him and the recovery-room doors.

“You don’t get to march in there.”

“She’s my wife.”

Thomas’s eyebrows lifted.

“Interesting choice of words.”

Bradley lowered his voice.

“Move.”

“No.”

“You have no right to keep me from my own family.”

Thomas stared at him.

“You abandoned her.

I didn’t.”

Bradley’s jaw tightened.

“Is this why you froze everything?”

“I froze nothing personally.

The audit committee suspended your company access pending review.”

“I’m the CEO.”

“CEO is a job, Bradley.

Not a crown.”

Thomas opened the black folder.

The first document was the attempted trust amendment involving the house.

Bradley’s confidence flickered.

Thomas turned the page.

The second was the compliance log showing the time of each transaction request.

Another page contained the insurance-status change submitted through corporate benefits.

Then came a preservation notice covering emails, account activity, travel expenses and instructions issued to company staff.

Bradley’s face changed.

“You went through my private records?”

“Company records are not your private records.”

“This is Rachel manipulating you.”

“She was unconscious when the audit flags appeared.”

Bradley looked toward the recovery doors.

“You don’t understand our marriage.”

Thomas’s voice remained calm.

“I understand a timeline.”

He tapped the compliance report.

“You started preparing these transfers weeks ago.

You filed for divorce this morning.

You sent your wife a message telling her she was alone.

Then you attempted to alter her coverage while she was still legally your spouse.”

Bradley stepped closer.

“I wanted a clean break.”

“You wanted her powerless before she knew the fight had started.”

For the first time, Bradley had no answer.

A nurse appeared from the recovery area.

“Mr.

Whitmore?”

Both men turned.

She looked directly at Thomas.

“Rachel is asking to see you.”

Bradley’s face hardened.

“I’m her husband.”

The nurse’s expression did not change.

“She asked for Thomas.”

That hurt Bradley more than anything in the folder.

He turned to his father.
